Every once and a while I decided to make one of our family videos public to show how our daughter Vivien is doing. This trip was in September and Vivien had been home with us for almost 18 months. She is a joy and blessing. -Michelle

Our story of bringing home our amazing daughter from China in April of 2017. The road to and through adoption is a difficult one paved with loss. This video depicts the joy of bringing our daughter into our family without really sharing the hard stuff. However, make no mistake about it, the hard stuff was worth it.

I'm not crying... you're crying! (OK, it's me.) My own two daughters (also adopted from China) are in their 20s, and sometimes I wish I was young enough to do it again... and then I'll go down a rabbit hole watching adoption videos. Yours is beautiful! I had to go look up "Hello Lovely" because it's absolutely perfect in this video.

I've been watching these orphans in Vietnam & was so happy to find your video of adoption. I cried from how beautiful it is. The second you met your new daughter, there was instant love of a mom with her child. Your other daughter was so excited too! Seeing her smile with her new family was absolutely awesome! It's amazing what the power of love can do. Thank you for sharing this

Why do they force these babies to be held so quickly! I don’t understand. Give them a chance to interact slowly . Seeing a stranger in your face telling them you are mummy after all they’ve already been through must be so scary.
You don't understand unless you are there. We adopted one of our children from China. The caregiver walked out and put her in my arms and walked away. She was 11 months old, what would you do? You have very little control in these situations.

the fact that you are putting your child on display on a day - regardless on how she will be raised - shows at least right now, you do not have any understanding of the enormous impact of being adopted will have on your child.. in a situation where she has already no choice. something she will deal with at some point in life, you are taking away her right to tell her own story on her own terms... adoption is not only about you, your happiness and your desire to display it in public.. it is a fundamental and life changing and emotionally impactful beyond anything a non-adopted person (such as you) will ever understand.. that in itself is ok, but it is irresponsible to not be aware of that.. this video shows in my opinion, that you are not ... I am glad that my adopted parents respected the fact that this was potentially the most traumatizing day of my life.. for everything that you feel you have to celebrate, you aquired a child.. your child,on the other hand, lost her entire biological family, roots, culture, familiar surroundings and people.. the adoption day for her will be always a day of loss and profound grief.. displaying that online and creating a narrative that this is a celebratory moment, will be a "great" start to etch in her mind that she has to be "grateful" for the "white saviour" who took her in and can always say "look, we even created a cool video when you arrived! That's how much we love you".. It is incredibly sad and shocking that even nowadays people seem to be blissfully unaware of what exactly the impact of transracial adoption has on a child and once to be adult .. people who exploit and commoditize their own children / adopted children for social media / number of views (who already suffered the loss of their entire family and who have no agency of their own lives) do not deserve to adopt.... We can only hope that this adoption story does not end like the Stauffer'case..
oh puhlease!! Dont be a Negative Nancy!!! Too much negativity on social media already! The little girl is in great hands, the family is having fun (except the father), she will have great opportunities, she will see herself on camera and she will be be confident girl!
This shows you have personal issues you are projecting. This video will be saved and will always be available to her. Two of my children are adopted. UA-cam didn't exist at that time, but they both are very happy they have those pictures and home movies. Both have said they would have gladly had their videos placed here to make it easier to share. You assume everyone feels just as you do
Can you imagine the emotions going through mum at 04:55 - the first smile !. It must go a long way to soften the memory of the baby crying at the hand-over !. Beautiful child now has a beautiful family - awesome !

Of course she was scared at first. Two of my children are adopted and I have no idea what deception you are talking about. Perhaps you prefer children remain orphans
